NHS Pharmacy First & Minor Ailments

The NHS Pharmacy First service is available to all patients who attend their local pharmacy.  Pharmacy First should be a patients first port of call for all minor ailments.  All patients who are registered with a GP Practice in Scotland are eligible for this service.  You should attend your local pharmacy first for all minor ailments for treatment and advice.

Help is available with:

  • Acne/eczema and dermatitis
  • Allergies and hay fever
  • Backache
  • Conjunctivitis and dry eyes
  • Common cold/flu and cough
  • Cold sores and mouth ulcers
  • Colic
  • Constipation
  • Cystitis and UTI for women aged 16-65
  • Diarrhoea
  • Ear ache
  • Haemorrhoids
  • Headache
  • Head lice
  • Impetigo
  • Indigestion
  • Nappy rash
  • Ringworm
  • Scabies
  • Shingles
  • Skin infections including insect bites
  • Sore throat
  • Threadworms
  • Thrush
  • Warts and verrucas
